Tacloban Sangyaw Festival 2011

Once again, The People Tacloban City and other Waraynons will comemorate the Feast of our Patron Saint Sr. Sto. Niño de Tacloban. In an interview with Leyte Samar Daily Express First Lady Councilor Cristina G. Romualdez said "Everything’s set now. We will have a (grand) Sangyaw Festival celebration for this year." [1] In addition to this years' "grand" celebration, the Sangyaw Festival Foundation has launched a new and official logo for the Sangyaw Festival. But this logo will only be for the use of the year 2011 (as shown below).




Here are some other exciting events to be witnessed in Tacloban City for this years' Fiesta Celebration:
  • The Annual Ms. Tacloban, and the Sangyaw Festival Tacloban Fabulous Five. Where the Hottest and the Prettiest Taclobanons battle their way to be the Most Beautiful and the Most Hottest of Tacloban City.
  • PARAYAWAN ha Balyuan with performances by Kamikazee, Archipelago, Hilera, Siakol, Calla lily, River Maya,  Sponge Cola and many more are scheduled to perform at the Balyuan Park Amphitheater everyday as soon as the sun goes down, and this night life of party begins.
  • KARNABALAN ha Astrodome will open on June 11, filled with fun rides and food for the family to enjoy and will last until July 15.
  • The ABRACADABRA Magic Illusion Show will have it's opening show on Indipendence Day, June 12, at 4:00 pm at the Amphitheater.
  • A (Fluvial) Pre-Balyuan Rights will be held on June 17, and the Balyuan Rights will be held on the 20th. Both events will be held at the Balyaun Amphitheater.
  • The Sangyaw Festival BOMBO  TOROTOT  PARADA will be held on the 27th. Starting with a Parade around the downtown Area and the official competition at the Balyuan Amphitheater. The  Leyte Samar Daily Express said that the BOMBO  TOROTOT  PARADA "will feature a modernize way of dance parade marches using modern music as background with colorful props." [2]
  • On the 29th at 1:00 pm the SANGYAW FESTIVAL 2011 GRAND PARADE will circle the downtown area and will show-off their artistic talents, costumes, and choreography at the Balyuan Amphitheater. At which at 9:00 pm, the skies will be filled with colorful lights with the Fireworks Display Extravaganza.
  • On the 30th, the 122nd Feast Day of Sr. Sto. Niño de Tacloban will be started by a Pontifical Mass in the morning and in the afternoon, a Fluvial Parade will be held followed by a Land Procession around the downtown streets of Tacloban.
City Ordinance  No. 2011-11-04  proclaims the Sangyaw Festival as the official festival of Tacloban City. [2]
